How Waves Were First Formed

Siobhan and Saffron showed real teamwork and supported each other well in creating their myth about how waves stole land. Remember to click on the video link to hear the girls read the myth to you.

How The Kiwi Lost Its Wings

Ruma Kereru has been flat out learning to write and animate myths over the last couple of weeks. The final step was to insert a voice over to assist young readers. Check out Arlo's work below. Make sure you click on the voiceover in the top right hand corner of his third slide.

Kid's Lit Quiz 2018

Do you think you could answer 100 questions about children's authors, book characters, nursery rhymes under pressure? Well that's what Arlo, Jake, Saffron and Jessie faced today at St Patrick's School in Greymouth. The quizmaster in charge was Wayne Mills a past senior lecturer at the Faculty of Education, University of Auckland. Jake's mum, Sandra said that he kept the questions pumping along meaning the team had to really think on their feet.

Choir

Rūma Kererū and Rūma Piwakawaka join each other every Thursday to learn a range of songs and with Dr Tim Shawcross. They have only been learning together for a few weeks but are already mastering a few of these.

House Sports

It was in brilliant Autumn conditions that the first House Sports for Term 2 kicked off today. The activities were all organised and run by the Sports Council. The games covered a range of skills and saw students show our school values as they helped each other, challenged themselves and had a whole heap of fun. Kawa of Care

Check out Ott's blog post so that you can understand how Rūma Kereru follow the Kawa of Care.

Rūma Kererū

Hello and welcome to Rūma Kererū for 2018. We are a pretty cool class of 29 Year 5 and 6 students. Over the last couple of weeks we have spent time getting to know each other and learn the class routines. It was an exciting start to the school year when Cyclone Fehi meant we had to close the school!  Look out for some stories about this soon. In the meantime check out the blogs to read how we follow the Kawa of Care in our class.
